Background:

A disused dispensary building at Nyandiwa Baptist Church has now been refurbished and stocked with medicines. Edwin, a highly qualified health practitioner, is employed full time and works alongside nurses from the community.

Vaccinations against polio, diphtheria, mumps and hepatitis B have already been given to 2,500 under 18s in the community.

Future plans for the development of health care within the community include:

• The purchase of a microscope
• Introduction of blood testing service
• Funds to employ a technician qualified to administer blood tests
• Aids clinic
• Family planning centre  
• Dentistry provision
